About Identity V Asian Games: Esports for the win
Identity V Asian Games marks a major milestone for the mobile title developed and published by NetEase Games, which first launched globally in July 2018.

Since its release, Identity V has built a strong competitive ecosystem around its asymmetrical 1v4 gameplay format, where players are divided into Survivors attempting to escape and a powerful Hunter tasked with stopping them in high-stakes chase-based matches.
The game’s inclusion in the 2026 Asian Games highlights the continued rise of mobile esports on the global stage, particularly within major multi-sport international events.
Identity V has steadily grown from a niche horror-competitive title into a structured esports discipline, supported by regional leagues, international tournaments, and a dedicated player base across Asia.

Esports itself continues to expand as a formal competitive category within the Asian Games structure, following its earlier debut as a medal event in Hangzhou 2022.
The selection of Identity V is especially significant, as it becomes the first asymmetrical competitive mobile game ever included in a continental multi-sport medal programme.
Alongside Identity V, other esports titles featured at the Asian Games reflect a broader push to integrate competitive gaming into mainstream international sport, with both PC and mobile games represented across multiple genres, underscoring the growing legitimacy and diversity of esports on the global stage.
