League of Legends patch 26.20 is the official patch for the 2026 World Championship. With the playoff meta landing in a relatively healthy spot, developers are avoiding sweeping overhauls to protect Solo Queue stability while executing targeted fine-tuning for pro play.

From curbing defensive mage crutches to rebalancing flex picks like Lucian, Vayne, and Sylas, here is a complete breakdown of what is changing on the Worlds stage.

Targeting stale pro meta chmpions

Several draft staples, including Ambessa, Cassiopeia, and K’Sante, are facing targeted tweaks to shake up a stale pro meta.

Previous hits to Cassiopeia undershot in organized play—even though her power successfully shifted toward higher AP builds in Solo Queue—so further balance work is underway alongside item adjustments to tone down safe-scaling picks.

Champion buffs

Lucian

Lucian is getting a biff to restore standalone trading power.

Why? Because nerfs to key enchanters (like Milio) alongside Support laning changes in Patch 26.19 significantly cut Lucian’s early kill threat. The incoming buffs return generic power to his kit regardless of partner choice.

Vayne

Vayne is getting a bot lane buff, but top lane won’t run wild. By nerfing Experimental Hexplate to curb tanky top setups, devs can safely buff her traditional marksman role.

Experimental Hexplate is getting nerfed to curb the rise of oppressive ranged top laners. Stripping stats from Hexplate shuts down those durable solo-lane builds, which opens up room for developers to directly buff champions tied to the item.

Runaan’s Hurricane

Following recent over-buffs, Runaan’s Hurricane is receiving a slight tap-down. This adjustment lands alongside a cautious nerf for Yunara, reigning in safe-scaling hyper-carries without gutting the entire archetype.

System adjustments

Hextech Rocketbelt is taking a hit to tone down the excessive durability it offered pro mages. Instead of letting traditional mages cover up their natural squishiness, the developers are refocusing Rocketbelt as a dedicated engage tool.

Ranged engage champions like Annie and Neeko should remain power-neutral, but mid-lane mages will now have to trade away damage repeatability if they choose to buy it.
