Genshin Impact 7.1 banners: List of characters, weapons, release date

Snezhnaya’s endgame is closing in, and the Genshin Impact 7.1 banner lineup puts two brand-new Stellar Swirl specialists right at the center of it.

In addition to fresh characters, Genshin Impact 7.1, “A Rekviem for the Underworld,” pushes the Archon Quest toward a long-teased confrontation with Ronova, the Ruler of Death.

Genshin Impact 7.1 banners – Phase 1

Leading the first half of the update is Vesna, a 5-star Anemo Sword user and the youngest Commander in Druzhna’s history. Her loyalty to the Tsaritsa defines her story, but in battle she’s built to convert Cryo Swirl reactions into Stellar Swirl reactions.

Vesna’s kit revolves around summoning Spirit Blades and building up “Sword Essence” through her Elemental Skill and other abilities. A follow-up skill spends that essence to send the blades slashing at enemies. Hits that land near a Stellar Vortex count as Stellar Swirl reaction damage.

Her Elemental Burst calls in another volley of Spirit Blades for AoE Anemo damage while topping her Sword Essence back up.

Outside of combat, Vesna doubles as a new traversal option. As a Vila, she can take flight while exploring, and a dedicated side story lets players unlock a special look for her sword spirit companion.

Joining her is Vodyanitsa, the Prima Donna of Snezhnograd’s Korolevskiy Troupe and a 5-star Hydro Catalyst wielder. She’s also a Water Imp underneath the stage persona, and her kit leans fully into that identity.

Her Elemental Skill shifts her into Water Imp form and sustains a song that continuously heals the active character, lowers enemy Hydro and Cryo resistance, and buffs the active character’s ATK — all while letting her glide through water at speed.

That same song also strengthens nearby Stellar Vortices, cutting Anemo resistance and boosting Stellar Swirl damage further. Her Elemental Burst deals AoE Hydro damage across the battlefield. She can stay in Water Imp form during exploration too, moving freely even away from water.

Phase 1 runs for three weeks from Wednesday, September 23, 2026, until Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Vesna and Vodyanitsa’s best-in-slot weapons, Beyond the Chrysalis and Hymn of the Maelstrom, respectively, will also be available on the weapon banner.

Phase 2 runs for three weeks from Tuesday, October 13, 2026, until Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Genshin 7.1 Archon Quest heads toward a showdown with the Ruler of Death

Version 7.1’s Archon Quest pushes the Snezhnaya storyline to a head. Travelers finally meet the Tsaritsa face to face and learn what she’s really been after with her long campaign to collect the Gnoses, all while Ronova continues to obstruct Snezhnaya’s efforts and Rhinedottir, the Ruler of Life, complicates things further.

The chapter culminates in a full-scale battle standing alongside Snezhnaya against Ronova, who also joins the roster as a new Weekly Boss.

From 7.1 onward, players can also pick up side assignments from the Tsaritsa’s Confidential Secretary, offering more insight into how she runs Snezhnaya.

Get a free 5-star character for Genshin Impact’s 6th anniversary

Genshin 7.1 doubles as the game’s sixth anniversary, and the celebration comes with one of the biggest freebies HoYoverse has offered.

For the first time, anyone who finishes the new Archon Quest can claim one event-exclusive 5-star character for free from a select lineup, redeemable any time during the version. A free standard 5-star pick is also up for grabs, on top of 1,600 Primogems, 10 Intertwined Fate, and other anniversary rewards.

HoYoFair returns with a 6th-anniversary fan art special

The anniversary celebrations extend beyond the game itself. HoYoFair is bringing back its Genshin Impact Fan Art Special Program for the occasion, this time titled “Project: Nord Express,” premiering on YouTube on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 8 pm (GMT+8).

The program lines up around 16 fan-made animated shorts and a batch of original fan music, headlined by the finale to the current arc of the fan-favorite Genshin Elemental Warfare series and a new short from KIERU spotlighting more Snezhnaya characters.

Fans can also join a giveaway on X for a shot at exclusive merchandise, running from Thursday, September 10, 2026.

The Moonchase Festival returns to Liyue after five years

Liyue’s Moonchase Festival makes its long-awaited comeback in 7.1, transforming Yilong Wharf for the occasion. Beneath the festivities sits a mystery neither Zhongli nor Zibai has puzzled out yet.

Three new mini-games inspired by Liyue’s thaumaturges arrive alongside it, with rewards that include a new 4-star sword.

More Genshin 7.1 events: Snowball fights in Snezhnaya, a Natlan tournament, and Miliastra Wonderland updates

Snezhnaya gets its own seasonal event too, with a snowball fight alongside local children and a set of unusual enemies to take on. Over in Natlan, a prediction event invites players to call the results of a 16-team tournament across several days of matches.

Miliastra Wonderland picks up an autumn makeover inspired by osmanthus blossoms and the moon, with a free cosmetic set tied to a related event and a festival event offering an exclusive headpiece. The editor also gains new client-side scripting controls and collaborative editing tools for players building together.
