The Apothecary Diaries original works and anime
The Apothecary Diaries began as a web novel by Natsu Hyuga before being published as a light novel series, with illustrations by Touko Shino. The light novel was first published in 2011.
The story was later adapted into two manga series. The Nekokurage manga began serialization in Monthly Big Gangan in May 2017, while Minoji Kurata’s adaptation began in Monthly Sunday Gene-X in August 2017.
The anime adaptation premiered in Japan on October 22, 2023, with Aoi Yuki voicing Maomao and Takeo Otsuka as Jinshi. Season 1 ran for 24 episodes through March 2024, while Season 2 aired from January to July 2025.
