After returning from a weekend away, Max discovers that the campus is engulfed in flames. A massive inferno tears through the university, destroying the grounds and claiming the lives of friends, students, and faculty members.

Max narrowly escapes thanks to her supernatural Rewind power, the same ability that allowed her to manipulate time in the original Life is Strange.

Using a selfie to jump back in time, Max finds herself with just three days to uncover how the fire began and stop the disaster before it happens.

Things take an unexpected turn when Chloe Price arrives at Caledon, shocking Max. Chloe’s appearance is a consequence of the timeline merge that occurred at the end of Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

Haunted by nightmares from a past she never experienced and struggling to understand her fractured memories, Chloe turns to Max for help.

Unique gameplay elements

For the first time in the series, players will be able to control both Max and Chloe, switching perspectives as the story unfolds.

Max can use her Rewind power to redo decisions, alter conversations, and manipulate the environment to solve complex four-dimensional puzzles.

Chloe brings her signature Backtalk ability, sharp instincts, and fearless attitude to interrogations and confrontations. Her approach allows players to access situations and suspects that Max cannot.

As with previous games in the series, the story emphasizes meaningful choices that influence the narrative and ultimately determine how the dramatic story concludes. The game builds toward an epic climax that serves as the finale to the Max and Chloe saga.

About the Life is Strange series

The Life is Strange franchise first launched in 2015, quickly gaining a reputation for its emotional storytelling, player-driven choices, and supernatural elements.

The original game introduced players to Max Caulfield, a photography student who discovers she can rewind time. Alongside her childhood friend Chloe Price, Max navigates a mystery-filled story set in the fictional town of Arcadia Bay.

The game’s branching narrative and powerful themes of friendship, trauma, and consequences helped it become one of the most influential narrative adventure games of the past decade.

The series has since expanded with several entries, including Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Life is Strange 2, Life is Strange: True Colors, and Life is Strange: Double Exposure.
