The Edo Star release date in Honkai Star Rail is fast approaching, bringing with it mysterious characters, a shift in the meta, and a new region for Trailblazers to explore. This world features a Japan-inspired cyberpunk setting with neon signs, tall skyscrapers, and floating buildings.
This major patch also introduces a roster of Edo Star characters in HSR banners.
Before Edo Star, the Astral Express stopped at The Eternal Land, Amphoreus, where the crew planned to fuel the train for the next leg of the journey. This Greek-inspired planet introduced the Chrysos Heirs, individuals with golden blood who take part in the Flame Chase to inherit the powers of Titans.
The Astral Express’ time on the planet revealed a secret tied to one of the world’s Aeons.
Edo Star release date: When does HSR 4.0 come out?
In the Trailblaze missions, Edo Star is the Astral Express’ intended destination before stopping in Amphoreus. The planet sits within a vast ion storm region and faces attacks from the Antimatter Legion. The IPC reports the Legion was repelled, and the planet is on temporary lockdown.
With the Amphoreus patch ending at 3.8, many players are asking, when does HSR 4.0 come out?
HoYoverse has not officially confirmed the Edo Star release date, but based on the length of previous versions, fans can expect version 4.0 in late January 2026.
During the Honkai Star Rail 3.2 special program, developers noted that patch 3.8 will supplement the main story, bringing players back to Penacony. With 3.8 running from December 16, 2025, to January 27, 2026, version 4.0 is expected to follow soon after.
Edo Star characters and HSR banners for version 4.0
HoYoverse has not officially revealed the full list of Edo Star characters, but leaks suggest more appearances from the Interastral Peace Corporation’s Ten Stonehearts members, including Pearl, as well as Robin and Aventurine on different paths.
Familiar faces are expected to return in new paths, such as Sparkle, Silver Wolf, Blade, and Himeko.
New characters will also join the roster, including Yaoguang, one of the seven-arbiter generals of Xianzhou Luofu, a character inspired by Honkai Impact 3rd’s Yae Sakura, and La Mancha, a Galaxy Ranger.
It is important to note that the details and leaks regarding Edo Star and its characters remain unverified and should be regarded with caution, as HoYoverse has not provided any official confirmation.

The Astral Express has traveled through several worlds, including Herta Space Station, a museum-like starship founded by Herta; Jarilo-VI, a planet home to multiple civilizations; Penacony, a dreamlike world; Xianzhou Luofu, a massive spaceship so large it functions as a planet; and Amphoreus, a simulation contained within a machine.
The Astral Express was created by Akivili, the Aeon of Trailblaze, to transport Akivili and the Nameless across the galaxy. Its current crew, which includes Welt, Himeko, Dan Heng, March 7th, Sunday, and the Trailblazer, follows the same route Akivili once traveled. Their journey is leading them toward Pegana, Akivili’s home world.
