Adapted from Shinobu Kaitani’s long-running manga, the anime brings its high-stakes mind games to the screen under a notable production team.
Here’s everything you need to know about the cast, story, and release details.
What is Liar Game?

Liar Game began as a manga series written and illustrated by Shinobu Kaitani. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump from February 17, 2005, to January 22, 2015, and compiled into 19 volumes.
The series gained a strong following for its psychological tension, strategic battles, and exploration of trust under pressure.
The Liar Game anime adaptation was officially announced on August 22, 2025. It is being produced by Madhouse, the studio known for titles such as Death Note, One Punch Man Season 1, and Frieren Beyond Journey’s End.
The adaptation marks the first animated version of the series, following earlier live-action adaptations in Japan and South Korea.

The story follows Nao Kanzaki, an honest and trusting college student who unexpectedly receives a large sum of money and an invitation to participate in the mysterious “Liar Game.”
Contestants must deceive one another through structured psychological challenges, with massive debt awaiting those who lose.
To survive, Nao turns to Shinichi Akiyama, a brilliant former con artist whose analytical skills allow him to navigate the game’s layered traps. Together, they face increasingly complex mind games where alliances shift, trust is tested, and strategy outweighs brute strength.
The Liar Game anime centers on how ordinary people react when placed under extreme psychological pressure.
