How the Captain Majima Festival Works

The Captain Majima Festival introduces a competitive, team-based format. Players choose one of three teams and take part in races with rotating objectives—ranging from performing the most Touch Boosts to completing specific in-race challenges.

Success in these events earns Festival Points, the core currency of the Captain Majima Festival. These points can then be exchanged for exclusive in-game rewards, including themed decals, horns, and other cosmetic items tied to Majima’s arrival.

While SEGA has noted that some Festival-exclusive gadgets may return in future updates, the Captain Majima Festival remains the earliest and most direct way to unlock them—making it the best opportunity for completionists.

Alongside the Captain Majima Festival, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is also seeing a wave of promotional offers. The standard edition is currently discounted by 40% on the PlayStation Store, with the sale running until May 6, 2026.

PC players, meanwhile, can jump into the action for free. The full game will be available on Steam from May 1 through May 5, 2026, at 1am GMT+8 | April 30, 2026, 7pm CEST | 10am PST.

Progress made during this period carries over if the game is purchased afterward, making it an ideal entry point.

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is available on Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
