The Smurfs event is coming to Sonic Rumble, bringing a limited-time crossover alongside a major update that introduces new gameplay features, rewards, and improvements across the game.
The event will launch simultaneously with a significant content update that adds a brand-new game mode, new reward systems, and gameplay enhancements to all platforms (iOS, Android, Google Play Games, and PC via Steam).
The update also marks a small but notable rebrand for the game, which will temporarily be known as Sonic Rumble Party to highlight its expanded party-style gameplay experience.

During the event, players can earn exclusive Smurfs-themed crossover items through the Event Pass or by purchasing them in the in-game shop.
Players will also be able to enter battles as Smurf characters and race through a special crossover stage designed specifically for the event. The themed stage adds a playful twist to Sonic Rumble’s competitive obstacle gameplay.
Major update adds Party Rumble Mode

Launching alongside the crossover is a large content update that expands the core gameplay experience.
The biggest addition is Party Rumble, a new single-round mode designed for fast-paced, casual gameplay.
Instead of long competitive sessions, Party Rumble focuses on quick and intuitive minigames played in groups of eight players.
At launch, the mode will include more than 30 Party Rumble stages, offering a variety of short challenges ideal for quick matches.
While Party Rumble focuses on lighthearted fun, players looking for a more competitive experience can still play other existing modes such as:
- Ring Survival
- Squad
- Co-op Battle
These modes continue to offer more intense matches and team-based gameplay.
New Toy Capsule reward system

Another major addition arriving with the update is the Toy Capsule feature, which introduces a new way for players to earn in-game rewards.
As players progress through battle rounds, they will obtain capsules that contain valuable items, including Skin Fragments used for unlocking cosmetic character skins.
Players can upgrade capsules to increase their chances of receiving better rewards. Capsules may also contain Puzzle Pieces, which can be collected into full sets.
Completing a puzzle set rewards players with Red Star Rings and other prizes, giving players additional incentives to keep playing matches and upgrading their rewards.
Expanded rewards and gameplay improvements

The March 16 update also includes a number of quality-of-life improvements and expanded reward opportunities designed to make the overall gameplay experience more rewarding.
Key changes include:
- Red Star Rings will now be obtainable through the Season Pass
- Free Crane attempts increase from once per day to four times daily
- The Friends feature will receive usability improvements
