Witch Hat Atelier is a seinen manga written and illustrated by Kamome Shirahama. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine since July 2016, and was later licensed for an English release by Kodansha USA in July 2018.
Since then, the series has won the Harvey Award for Best Manga in 2020 and 2025, the Eisner Award for Best U.S. Edition of International Material – Asia, AND has surpassed 7.5 million copies in circulation in March 2026.

The story follows Coco, a seamstress’s daughter who dreams of becoming a witch in a world where magic is believed to be an inborn gift. When she secretly watches the witch Qifrey cast spells by drawing seals, she attempts to replicate the magic herself, accidentally turning her mother to stone.
Now apprenticed under Qifrey, Coco must master the art of magic while racing to undo the harm she caused.
The anime adaptation is produced by BUG FILMS and directed by Ayumu Watanabe, with a screenplay by Hiroshi Seko, character designs by Kairi Unabara, and music composed by Yuka Kitamura.
