Trigun is a Japanese manga series created by Yasuhiro Nightow that first debuted in 1995. Set on the desert planet of Gunsmoke, the story follows Vash the Stampede, a mysterious wanderer with a massive bounty on his head and a reputation for destruction that contrasts sharply with his pacifist ideals.

Blending science fiction, Western aesthetics, and philosophical themes, the title explores questions of morality, violence, and what it truly means to protect life.

The franchise has since grown into a long-running cult classic, spawning multiple manga continuations, the original 1998 anime adaptation, and the modern reimagining Trigun Stampede. While Stampede updates the visual style and narrative structure for a new generation, it remains rooted in Nightow’s core themes of humanity, consequence, and hope in an unforgiving world.
