Level Infinite, Tencent’s global publishing brand, has secured a major partnership with developer Shift Up for the worldwide launch of the upcoming cross-platform title, Project Spirits.

Project Spirits is a cross-platform game (PC, consoles, and mobile) developed on Unreal Engine 5 through a co-development effort between Shift Up and Tencent affiliate, Yongxing Interactive.

Yongxing Interactive’s core team consists of senior veterans from leading game companies specializing in ACG games, providing solid industry experience and development capabilities.

Project Spirits marks the second time these two giants are collaborating

This agreement is the second global collaboration between Level Infinite and Shift Up, building on the tremendous success of their previous venture, Goddess of Victory: Nikke, a stylish sci-fi mobile shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by mechanical invaders known as the Raptures. The game follows elite humanoid soldiers—Nikkes—each with distinct personalities, abilities, and designs.

Both companies are committed to leveraging this strategic alliance to achieve even greater synergy with Project Spirits, Level Infinite reported.

Leveraging Shift Up’s proven expertise with globally acclaimed IPs, Level Infinite aims to deliver the next generation of gaming experiences to players worldwide. This partnership strengthens the two companies’ commitment to both global publishing and joint development.

Founded in 2013 by renowned illustrator Kim Hyung-tae, Shift Up is a leading South Korean game developer recognized for its distinctive graphics and immersive storytelling of original IPs. In particular, Stellar Blade received numerous domestic and international awards in 2024: a visually stunning action-adventure game that combines sleek character design with precise, skill-based combat that’s set in a desolate Earth reclaimed by grotesque alien creatures called Naytibas.

Protagonist Eve, is a warrior dispatched from an off-world colony to reclaim the planet and uncover the mysteries behind humanity’s downfall. The game stands out for its fluid, Souls-like combat, cinematic presentation, and lush environments that blend sci-fi and post-apocalyptic aesthetics.

Shift Up solidified its standing by successfully listing on the Korean Stock Exchange in July 2024.
