The fierce contenders of KO Coliseum, the 15th TFT set

Riot Games peeled back the curtain in a TFT Dev Drop video, showcasing KO Coliseum’s spectacular gameplay.
Highlights included the formidable, anime-themed champions, never-before-seen traits, a new signature game mechanic, and a fresh batch of cosmetics. This set is engineered to deliver a playful, energetic experience for both TFT veterans and those new to the Convergence.
KO Coliseum introduces a legendary lineup of champions, all itching to fight their way to the top of the arena with peak anime flair. Players can tap into the power of the magic girls with Seraphine, a premier 5-cost unit who leads the Star Guardians. Her anime-inspired Ultimate Friendship Bomb spell delivers a devastating strike to all enemies within a 2-hex radius.
Also making a welcome return is the fan-favorite Kobuko, TFT’s first-ever original Runeterra character, now serving as a 2-cost Mentor. Rounding out the lineup of heavy-hitting 5-cost fighters are renowned martial arts master Braum, along with Gwen, Twisted Fate, Varus, Yone, and Zyra.

“K.O. Coliseum is a love letter to the anime fighting tournament genre, uniting many classic tropes
into a big, bold set packed with spectacle and potential,” said Michael Sloan, Lead Set Designer. “With the new Power Up mechanic, we’re offering players an exciting opportunity to skip the multi-episode training arc and empower their champions with more power, utility, and novelty earlier in the game. It’s a flashy, action-packed experience with something that every anime fan can enjoy.”
All KO Coliseum traits and origins
Soul Fighter: These champions have been training all their lives for this. They gain bonus Health, as well as stacking Attack Damage and Ability Power every second (up to 8 stacks). At max stacks, they unlock their max power, gaining True Damage on their abilities and attacks.
Star Guardian: True to the anime genre, Star Guardians power up through friendship. These magical champions gain a unique Teamwork Bonus for every Star Guardian on the board.
Crystal Gambit: Crystal Gambit shows up in style. Kills and losses during player combats will earn you Gem Power. Every 4 player combats, you choose whether to cash out or double down. Doubling down grants 100% more Gem Power, but if you win, you lose 50% Gem Power and cash out immediately.
Mighty Mech: Get ready for “Me Mech” in chat again. Every Mighty Mech you field strengthens the Mighty Mech. The higher the star level, the more power it gains!

Wraith: Wraiths derive their power from the Shadow Realm, channeling it to strike the three closest enemies. The lowest health Wraith heals for 18% of the damage dealt by Wraiths and the Shadow Realm.
Battle Academia: Grab your books – school is in session! Battle Academia units are constantly learning, unlocking their true potential, and upgrading their abilities.
Luchador: Whatever your favorite wrestling move is, the Luchadors have perfected it. Gaining bonus Attack Damage, they get their second wind at 50% health, cleanse negative effects, heal, and leap into the ring to knock up their enemies.
Mentor: The Mentors don’t exactly play well with each other, but if you can entice all four champions to join your team, you’ll gain all bonuses and upgrade their abilities.
The Crew: Better together, the crew gains Health and Attack Speed for each Crew member fielded. Every 3-star Crew champion grants additional bonuses. Once enough are 3-starred, they’ll call in their starship to rain down destruction.
Supreme Cells: To be The Supreme Cell, you’ll have to do the most damage. All Cells gain Damage Amp, but the Supreme gains more and executes enemies under 10% health.
Stance Master (5-cost trait only): As the 5-cost Stance Master, Lee Sin can pick a trait that’s best suited for battle. Choose between Duelist Stance, Executioner Stance, and Juggernaut Stance, and then gain a unique ability that matches the chosen stance.
Monster Trainer: As a 3-cost Monster Trainer, Lulu is actually 3 units. When Lulu is played, she hops to the side and an armory of 3 monsters (Kog-Maw, Rammus, and Smolder) pops up. You choose one: Kog’Maw (zaps enemies), Rammus (tanky stunner), or Smolder (AD caster).
Prismatic Traits: Historically, Prismatic Traits have required players to hit +2 or +3 of a specific trait—an intentionally difficult goal—in order to unlock a massive power spike. With KO Coliseum, Prismatic Traits will now require you to hit the highest breakpoint for the trait and then complete a mini-quest to unlock their Prismatic (and typically game winning) power. You can spend a ridiculous amount of Mana with Star Guardians, collect all three Mighty Mech Augments, and more!
KO Coliseum set mechanic: Power Ups
Power Ups have stormed into the arena, giving players the boost they need to climb the ranks of the Coliseum! Apply a Power Snax to a champion to unlock a suite of empowering options, turning any champion into a superstar. When you’re ready for a change—or spot an even more exciting unit—you can remove the Power Up and transfer it to a new champion!
KO Coliseum also introduces around 120 new Augments, including 70 brand-new mechanics. For example, Tournament Favorites rewards you with loot for dominating opponents with Soul Fighter units, while Tiny Team brings a vertical like Star Guardian into a strong, small-squad format. Feeling bold? Diamond Hands lets you fully embrace feast-or-famine with the Crystal Gambit cash-out trait.
KO Coliseum cosmetic highlights

KO Coliseum brings players an exciting lineup of new cosmetics, including Chibi Spirit Blossom Lillia, Prestige Chibi Spirit Blossom Ahri, High Noon Thresh Unbound, and The Veiled Village Arena.
The new set also introduces a stunning selection of anime-inspired Portal Skins, such as Spirit Springs, The Way of the K.O., God Weapon, Crystal Caress, Portal of the First Star, and Into the Lands Beyond.
As seen in Cyber City, players can continue to customize their Portals, alongside their Arena, Boom, and Tactician for a fully personalized TFT experience.
KO Coliseum revamps traditional roles
With the launch of KO Coliseum, TFT is evolving unit roles to create more melee carries, quirky but fun specialized units with unique ultimates and attacks, and an overall more engaging gameplay experience.
Units will now gain mana differently depending on their role, and champions will interact with gameplay systems in smarter, more dynamic ways.
For example, Tanks—defense-heavy champions who soak up damage for the team—will now generate 5 mana per attack and also gain mana when taking damage. They’ll find themselves at the center of the action more often, making them more likely to be targeted by opponents.
These updates won’t fundamentally change how you play TFT but will address edge cases, such as splash damage unintentionally fueling enemy carries’ mana.
Competitive TFT gets a major update
The launch of KO Coliseum doesn’t just bring new traits—it also kicks off the TFT Pro Circuit (TPC), a brand-new Tier 1 tournament series.
Rolled out in all four regions starting August 2025, the TPC provides an additional competitive layer to the existing structure. This initiative aims to deliver a more stable, rewarding, and watchable ecosystem for top players, while significantly enhancing the viewing experience for fans.
The series will feature three separate events throughout the KO Coliseum set. The first TPC tournament starts August 29, 2025 to see the debut of the Tier 1 pros—32 of the game’s best players who qualified through Teamfight Tactics: Cyber City to represent each of the four regions.
The TFT Open expands and heads to Paris

The TFT Open (TPO) is making its grand return and will be bigger than ever before. This year, the largest TFT event of the calendar travels to Paris’ Porte de Versailles, boasting a massive 768 player slots.
This represents a substantial 50% increase in capacity from previous tournaments. The expansion ensures that more competitors than ever will have the chance to experience the thrill of the open-bracket LAN event and spend a weekend testing their skills against top-tier TFT talent from all corners of the world.
For those looking to compete, competitor passes will go on sale starting with presales on September 8, 2025. Details regarding pass prices and specifics on the pre-sale process will be made available to the public on August 20.
Beyond the main competition, TPO is also set to feature a variety of community activities. The event will include an Artist Alley dedicated to celebrating the amazing creators within the TFT community. Attendees can also look forward to insightful developer panels, opportunities for co-streamer meet-and-greets, and plenty of chances to participate in fun Side Events.
Additionally, the TPO will introduce a new 4v4 event starting on Day 2, specifically designed for competitors who were knocked out on Day 1, complete with its own dedicated prize pool.
