Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 recap

Season 2 ended with a dramatic confrontation between the sorcerer inhabiting Suguru Geto’s body, Kenjaku, and special grade sorcerer Yuki Tsukumo over the fate of all curse users. The curse user, who had previously body‑snatched multiple powerful sorcerers, revealed plans to create a new world by unleashing chaos.

Over the years, Kenjaku had targeted many individuals, including Tsumiki Fushiguro, Megumi’s sister, who has been in a coma due to an unknown curse. To further his scheme, Kenjaku activated Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration from a distance, releasing the Cursed Seal on a thousand non-sorcerers.

Some of these individuals were infused with Cursed Objects, while others were awakened curse users. All were forced to battle each other to better understand Cursed Energy.

Kenjaku then escaped, cursed object in hand, with Satoru Gojo in the trapped prison realm. Kenjaku shared his excitement that his actions would revive the Heian Era, a thousand-year-old period known as the Golden Age of Jujutsu, when powerful sorcerers ruled and when Sukuna was at the height of his power.

Following the Shibuya Incident, Tokyo was in chaos, with cursed spirits roaming freely. Yuta Okkotsu, a special grade sorcerer and Gojo’s pupil, had left Japan after the events of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie to train and improve his cursed techniques. He returned in the wake of the Shibuya destruction.

The Jujutsu High council reinstated the execution order on Yuji Itadori and summoned Yuta Okkotsu to carry it out. Upon his return, Yuta immediately confronted the curses threatening civilians, while also seeking revenge for Gojo and addressing the fallout from the Shibuya incident.

The events following Shibuya reshaped the world of jujutsu sorcery. Believing that Geto is still alive, the Jujutsu High council exiled Gojo and branded him a co-conspirator due to their past connection to Geto.

Tokyo Jujutsu High principal Masamichi Yaga faces execution for his role in the Shibuya Incident. Yuji Itadori’s suspended execution has been reinstated. These developments set the stage for season 3, which adapts the Itadori’s Extermination and Perfect Preparation arcs before moving into the high-stakes Culling Game.
