Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 episodes 1 and 2 recap

The opening episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 were delivered through the feature-length Jujutsu Kaisen 2025: Execution, which functioned as a combined premiere rather than a standard weekly episode.
The story picked up directly after the Shibuya Incident, with the jujutsu higher-ups moving to contain the fallout caused by Sukuna’s (Junichi Suwabe) rampage and the growing instability within the jujutsu world. Their response was immediate and severe: Yuji Itadori (Junya Enoki) was once again sentenced to execution.

To carry out the order, Yuta Okkotsu (Megumi Ogata) convinced the higher-ups to entrust him with the task, claiming that he wanted revenge for Yuji’s involvement in Shibuya.
At the same time, political tensions erupted within the Zenin Clan. Following the death of Naobito Zenin, Megumi Fushiguro (Yuma Uchida) was unexpectedly named the new clan head due to Toji’s lineage. Naobito’s son, Naoya Zenin (Kouji Yusa), rejected the decision and resolved to kill Megumi in order to seize leadership for himself.

To locate Megumi, Naoya targeted Yuji and tracked him down, eventually finding him alongside Choso (Daisuke Namikawa) as they exorcised cursed spirits released by Kenjaku following his announcement of the impending Culling Games.
Their encounter quickly escalated into a confrontation, but it was cut short when Yuta arrived in Tokyo and immediately acted on the execution order. While Yuji clashed with Yuta, Naoya confronted Choso, mocking and challenging his beliefs about what it meant to be a good brother.
Using the Queen of Curses, Rika, Yuta stabbed Yuji through the heart, seemingly killing him on the spot.
As Yuji lost consciousness, he experienced a flashback involving his parents, Jin and Kaori Itadori, alongside a memory of his grandfather warning Jin about Kaori.
The scene revealed that Kaori bore the same stitched scars on her forehead as Suguru Geto, strongly implying that Kenjaku had inhabited her body and was responsible for giving birth to Yuji. This revelation reframes Yuji’s origins and further ties him to Kenjaku’s long-term plans.

Yuji later awakened to find that Yuta had revived him using reverse cursed technique. Yuta explained that the execution had been deliberately staged to convince the jujutsu higher-ups that Yuji was dead, buying time and diverting their attention away from the group.
He also revealed that Satoru Gojo (Yuichi Nakamura) had warned him in advance that something might happen, asking Yuta to look after the Jujutsu High students in his absence, including Yuji. Yuta reassured Yuji that the people closest to him still cared about his survival and that protecting him was a shared choice rather than an obligation.
With larger threats approaching, Megumi asked Yuji to return to Jujutsu High, explaining that his strength would be necessary for what came next. Seeking clarity on the rapidly escalating situation and the approaching Culling Game, the group decided to consult Master Tengen.
The episode concluded with Tengen granting them a surprise audience, signaling the transition into the events that followed.
