Jujutsu Kaisen 2025 movie ending explained
The Jujutsu Kaisen 2025 movie is divided into two distinct halves. The first 45 minutes condense the Shibuya Incident arc, summarizing the major battles, casualties, and the sealing of Satoru Gojo inside the Prison Realm. This recap concludes with Kenjaku—still using Suguru Geto’s body—announcing the start of the Culling Game.
The second half adapts the entire Yuji Itadori Execution arc, which spans the first two episodes of season 3, releasing on January 8, 2026.
Following the chaos of Shibuya, the higher-ups reinstate Yuji’s execution order, only for Yuta Okkotsu to be assigned as his executioner. Their confrontation highlights how heavily Yuji carries the guilt of the Shibuya Incident, pushing him to take responsibility for every life he can still protect—an outlook shaped by his grandfather’s final request to help others.
With Yuji’s execution order put back into effect, the film pivots to the Zenin clan and their growing involvement in the aftermath of Shibuya.
Zenin clan explained: Who’s who
The Zenin clan is one of the three major jujutsu families, known for its strict hierarchy, traditional values, and long-standing obsession with inherited techniques. Their influence becomes especially important after Shibuya, when the clan enters a period of instability that directly affects the events of the Jujutsu Kaisen Execution movie.
After Naobito’s death during the Shibuya Incident, his will is activated. While Naoya inherits the estate, the decisive clause states that Megumi becomes the next clan head if Satoru Gojo is ever incapacitated. Because Gojo is sealed, the condition is immediately met.

Tsumiki Fushiguro is Megumi’s older step-sister and the step-daughter of Toji Fushiguro. For much of the series, she appears to be an ordinary girl with no ties to jujutsu society. However, the Jujutsu Kaisen 2025 movie reveals just how deeply she is connected to Kenjaku’s long-term plans.
Tsumiki was one of the many civilians marked with a cursed seal years before the Shibuya Incident—chosen without her knowledge to serve as a potential participant in the Culling Game.

Master Tengen is an immortal jujutsu sorcerer who resides permanently within the Tombs of the Star Corridor. Their primary role is maintaining the vast network of barriers that protect both Tokyo and Kyoto Jujutsu High, as well as regulating cursed energy flow throughout Japan. Although Tengen does not participate in combat, their existence is one of the pillars that keeps the jujutsu world stable.
Tengen is also known as the Star, a title that stems from their historical role in guiding early jujutsu practices. Over time, various religious groups formed around Tengen’s teachings, turning them into a revered, almost mythical figure within certain communities.
Despite this reverence, Tengen’s identity has always been functional rather than symbolic: they are the foundation of Japan’s barrier system, not a deity.
Following the Shibuya Incident, Tengen undergoes a partial evolution. Because they failed to merge with, Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel during the required cycle, their form shifts, and they become more vulnerable. This evolution weakens Japan’s barriers, leaving the country increasingly exposed as Kenjaku’s plan progresses.
In the Jujutsu Kaisen Execution movie, Yuji, Yuta Okkotsu, Yuki Tsukumo, Maki Zenin, and others visit Tengen seeking answers. Their goals are twofold: to understand Kenjaku’s true objective and to learn how Satoru Gojo can be unsealed from the Prison Realm.

Who are Yuji Itadori’s parents?
The Jujutsu Kaisen 2025 movie reveals Yuji Itadori’s origins in a brief but significant flashback that occurs immediately after Yuta kills him. As Yuji collapses, the film cuts to a memory he has never seen, his grandfather, Wasuke Itadori, confronting his son Jin about Jin’s wife, Kaori.
Wasuke insists that something is wrong with her—an unease that becomes clearer when the flashback shows Kaori with the same forehead stitches associated with Kenjaku’s technique.
This confirms that Kaori’s body was being controlled by Kenjaku at the time Yuji was conceived. Kenjaku has taken many hosts across different eras, and in several of those lives has produced offspring as part of his ongoing experiments.
These children, known as Death Paintings, carry a mixture of human and cursed spirit lineage, granting them unusual physical durability and compatibility with cursed energy.
This lineage explains why Choso instinctively recognizes Yuji as family. Choso and his brothers were themselves created as Death Paintings, making them products of Kenjaku’s experiments just like Yuji. The flashback reframes Yuji’s existence within Kenjaku’s centuries-long plan and positions him as a central piece in the broader conflict that unfolds throughout the series.
The ending of the Jujutsu Kaisen 2025 movie lines up directly with the start of the Perfect Preparation arc. After covering the Yuji Itadori Execution arc in full, the film shifts its attention to what comes next for the remaining sorcerers as they regroup and respond to the aftermath of Shibuya.
