Bleach has crossed mediums for years, but seeing it collide with Fortnite still feels like a milestone moment for the franchise.

The Fortnite x Bleach collaboration marks the first official crossover between Epic Games’ battle royale and Tite Kubo’s long-running anime and manga series.

While Epic has yet to fully outline the contents of the collaboration, the announcement alone places Bleach alongside Fortnite’s growing slate of high-profile anime crossovers.

For longtime Bleach fans, the timing is notable: the Bleach manga has already concluded, while the anime continues its final adaptation — the Thousand-Year Blood War arc.

Epic Games officially signaled the crossover on December 14, 2025, when it released a short teaser trailer pointing to a Fortnite Bleach collaboration. The teaser opens on a battlefield, scattered with various swords, before gradually centering on Zangetsu, the Zanpakuto wielded by Bleach protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki, making the reference unmistakable even without a full character reveal.

The shot ends as two butterflies—one black and one blue—fly toward the blade, serving as the teaser’s final visual cue. These butterflies carry specific meaning within Fortnite’s own visual language. The blue Rift Butterfly is a recurring symbol tied to Fortnite’s rift system, representing connections between different realities and crossover events.

Rift Butterflies have previously appeared in in-game events and cosmetics, including sprays and emotes, and were most recently featured during the OG Butterfly Event rerun in 2025. Their appearance typically signals a dimensional crossover rather than a standalone cosmetic tease.

Although Epic Games has not yet confirmed specific Fortnite Bleach skins, characters, or gameplay elements, the deliberate pairing of Zangetsu imagery and rift symbolism frames the teaser as a crossover setup.

Beyond Fortnite, the collaboration arrives at an interesting point in Bleach’s history. Tite Kubo’s original Bleach manga concluded on August 22, 2016, fully completing the story in print, while the anime continues through Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, which adapts the series’ final arc.

The most recent episode aired on December 28, 2024, marking the end of Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3: The Conflict. With the story’s conclusion already established in the manga, the anime now moves closer to its final animated chapters.

The teaser ends with the date December 20, 2025, signaling when Epic Games is expected to share more information about the Fortnite x Bleach collab. Until then, the crossover stands as another reminder of Bleach’s enduring presence, connecting a long-running anime legacy with Fortnite’s evolving crossover-driven universe.
