The highlight of the December 22, 2025 update is the Boss Rush Challenge. In this mode, players use their existing armies from Patapon 1 and Patapon 2 to face a series of consecutive boss fights.

This content is designed for players who have already completed the main scenario of either game.

Stages in this mode feature a randomized rotation of bosses that vary in strength and number. Success requires careful management of your units, as HP and survival status carry over between battles within a single stage.

While units recover a small amount of health after each fight, those in reserve recover more quickly. Hatapon is the only unit that restores to full health after every encounter.

Crucially, losses or item consumption within this mode do not affect your main scenario save data. Players only save their progress after successfully clearing an entire stage, at which point all units are revived and health is fully restored.

Modern enhancements for a classic series

Patapon 1+2 Replay preserves the unique combination of rhythmic drumming and strategic squad management that defined the originals. Players command different classes, such as the defensive Tatepon and the long-range Yumipon, using the beat of four distinct drums.

The remastered bundle includes several quality-of-life features to make the experience more accessible. These include three difficulty settings, timing adjustment options, and a constant command display on the screen.

With over 400 types of weapons and equipment to craft, the game offers deep customization for those looking to build the ultimate army.
