GamingonPhone Awards 2025 proves that Mobile Legends is a powerhouse game and esports title
Moonton Games was recognized as Mobile Game Developer of the Year following a year of massive growth and portfolio expansion.
MLBB recently celebrated its ninth anniversary with the “9th to Meet You” campaign, featuring a new game mode and a popular girl group theme, showcasing its dedication to evolving player experiences. The title continues to be a global phenomenon, uniting over 1.5 billion registered users and maintaining 110 million monthly active players across 190 countries.
Beyond MLBB, Moonton’s newer titles have also made significant waves:
- Magic Chess Go Go (MCGG) saw rapid success, surpassing 30 million downloads just two weeks after its global launch.
- Silver and Blood quickly topped the Apple App Store charts in South Korea, Macau, and Thailand.
- Acecraft had a strong debut, hitting nearly 10 million downloads and leading the iOS Free App charts in 34 countries.

MLBB secured Mobile Esports Game of the Year for the fourth time. Its competitive scene continues to break records, with the game recognized as the world’s most-watched mobile esports title in 2024 by Esports Charts, accumulating over 475 million Hours Watched (HW).
The game’s momentum surged into the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC), where the MLBB Mid Season Cup became the most-watched tournament in EWC history, peaking at over 3 million Concurrent Viewers (PCV). Furthermore, the MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) was the largest women’s tournament at the event, underscoring Moonton’s efforts toward inclusivity in competitive gaming.
This recognition of MLBB’s international status is further solidified by its inclusion as a medaled event at both the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in December 2025 and the 2026 Asian Games.
Marcus Lim, Head of Overseas Public Relations at Moonton Games, highlighted the company’s drive, stating: “Our wins are a recognition of the passion that everyone at Moonton Games has for gaming and esports. Guided by our values of ‘Player-First Experience’ and ‘Rise Above Limits,’ we’ll continue to innovate, inspire our players, and push the mobile gaming industry forward.”
Team Liquid Philippines crowned Mobile Esports Team of the Year
The reigning MLBB world champions, Team Liquid Philippines (TLPH), were recognized as the Mobile Esports Team of the Year.
This accolade follows their monumental triumph at the MSC at EWC 25, where they became the first team in history to complete the MLBB Esports trophy cabinet. This historic achievement underscores their exceptional teamwork and competitive dominance.
Now, TLPH has set its sights on an even greater prize: completing the Golden Road—a goal no team has yet accomplished. The Golden Road requires winning all major MLBB Esports titles within a single year. With the MPL Philippines Season 15 title and the MSC at EWC 25 championship already secured, the team is now focused on winning the upcoming MPL Philippines Season 16 and the M7 World Championship to finalize the historic sweep.
TLPH’s championship lineup includes Alston “Sanji” Pabico, Jay Pee “Jaypee” Gonzales Dela Cruz, John “Perkziva” Haven Garcia Sumawan, Kiel “Oheb” Calvin Que Soriano, Karl “KarlTzy” Gabriel Dacer Nepomuceno, and Sanford “Sanford” Marin Vinuya.

The only individual accolade of the night went to Karl “KarlTzy” Gabriel Dacer Nepomuceno of Team Liquid Philippines, who was named Mobile Esports Player of the Year. Honored for his “individual brilliance,” KarlTzy’s Career Grand Slam was recently secured with his team’s latest international triumph.
His stellar resume features international victories in both the M Series and the MSC, alongside four MPL Philippines championships, solidifying his status as the “Face of MLBB Esports.”
In his acceptance speech, KarlTzy expressed his gratitude: “Thank you so much to the GamingonPhone Awards for naming me Mobile Esports Player of the Year! This is such a huge honor for me, and I’m truly grateful to everyone who has supported my journey—from my teammates, coaches, and organisation, to all the fans who are always there through every win and loss. Thank you so much, everyone! I’ll keep doing my best to make you all even prouder in the future!”
